The Redway Networks designed Cisco Meraki cloud networking solution is providing robust, scalable wireless connectivity and communications for Hazel 4D’s automated warehouse and distribution operations.
Hazel 4D is an expert in packaging, serving large organisations across the UK and Europe. It combines technical advice with a vast range of packaging consumables and machinery to deliver solutions that drive efficiency and improve business performance.
Robust Warehouse Wi-Fi
Alex Surtees, Operations Manager at Hazel 4D says, “We have a customer-centric approach with a focus on eco-friendly products that minimise energy use and make processes more efficient for our customers. We differentiate ourselves in a busy marketplace by providing exceptional customer service levels, so our supply chain must be fast and responsive. Following our move to a new high-spec warehouse, which was built with a sharp focus on sustainability. We were on tight timescales to fit the warehouse racking, move all the stock, position equipment, and install a wireless infrastructure – all whilst staying operational.”
Hazel 4D evaluated four IT companies and chose Redway Networks as it ihas a proven track-record of delivering complex warehouse Wi-Fi projects.
Redway Networks conducted a professional onsite Ekahau survey, which provided Hazel 4D’s management team with a comprehensive design report profiling where the new access point locations should be and the performance expectations of the network.
It had to be business as normal during the move with all the handhelds being used constantly in the warehouse to locate stock and get deliveries out to customers.
Alex says, “The number one priority was that our new wireless solution was robust and would deliver high-performance, so Meraki was the natural choice for us.”
Redway Networks delivered a robust wireless LAN with a Meraki cloud-managed Wi-Fi 6 network to provide a wireless communication network to support Hazel 4D’s warehousing and logistical operations.
Robust Warehouse Wi-Fi
To ensure ultimate efficiency, Redway installed Meraki access points at each end of the warehouse racking isles. Each AP was fitted with a sector antenna positioned to provide optimal coverage across the full length and height of the isle and ensure the Wi-Fi signal is strongest where needed. Omni-directional antennas were also utilised for larger open areas such as goods in and packaging areas.
All access points were connected to Meraki switches to provide reliable communications across the wired network. Hazel 4D’s operations team has complete visibility of the network through the Meraki dashboard which provides centralised management, layer 7 device and application visibility and real time web-based diagnostics and reporting.
Meraki is delivering superior Wi-Fi capacity and fast network speeds which has streamlined day-to-day warehouse operations and enabled Hazel 4D to meet supply chain demand.
